ABOUT ABOUT

Scorpius Dance Theatre Presents L.O.V.E
June 7 & 8 at 7:30 pm and June 9 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm

From June 7-9, Scorpius Dance Theatre will present L.O.V.E, an all original show choreographed by Scorpius' Director, Lisa Starry, with live original music by Kristofer Hill. L.O.V.E debuted in 2016 and will return for the second time to a smaller, more intimate venue at Metropolitan Arts Institute. L.O.V.E is a series of short stories portraying the various types of relationships and stages of love that impact our lives. Told through dance, theatrics and live music, this unique production will take audiences on a journey of emotions while exploring one common theme: love is everything.

In L.O.V.E, Starry explores a variety of relationship dynamics and stages of love, which range from serious to lighthearted and oftentimes humorous scenarios. As can be expected, the various points in romantic relationship are portrayed, including first love, fairytale weddings, and marriage after having a child. In addition, Starry expresses other personal dynamics, including sibling rivalry, motherly love, expressing forgiveness, loss of someone close, and finding confidence and support in friends. Many of L.O.V.E’s original works will be returning, but Starry will also be adding some new stories to the show.

Accomplished composer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Kristofer Hill will join the stage with the dancers during the entire production of L.O.V.E. As well as providing vocals, he will play a variety of instruments, including guitar, drums, keyboard and a baby grand piano. Also unique to this show, L.O.V.E features a much smaller cast then is typical for Scorpius productions. Additionally, all of the dancers remain on stage during the production, forming an exterior circle behind the dancers who are performing. They create a stage audience, engaging with one another and responding emotionally to each piece.
